Author Interview - Kelly Moran

A Covington Cove Novel—First in a new contemporary romance series from an award-winning author featuring "two characters you'll never forget." (Carly Phillips, New York Times bestselling author)

With every beat of the heart comes a memory of what could have been…

Ten years ago, Cole Covington was just another rich kid who got everything he wanted—including young and trusting Mia Galdon. Then one night everything changed, and two hearts were shattered. Cole buried his guilt in the military, where love was just part of the past. Now Cole has come back home, emotionally damaged, guarded, and unprepared for what’s waiting for him…

At the urging of Cole’s sister, Mia has returned to the Covington family’s coastal home in Wilmington as a private nurse to help Cole recover. With her uncertain personal life at a crossroad, Mia doesn’t have the luxury of saying no to the job. And she soon finds out that the attraction is still alive. So are memories of betrayal. But Mia will discover more than the power of resilience. She’ll discover a secret Cole has held for years, one that will force them to confront the past and give new meaning to letting go, forgiveness, and a future worth fighting for.

Thank Kelly Moran For letting me interview you, it's was a pleasure!!

Describe your personality in three words… Sarcastic, Crazy, Organized Describe your writing style in three words… Heartfelt, humorous, romantic
Which is your favorite chapter that you wrote and why? Don't think I have one, honestly, but the first chapter in my new release, RETURN TO ME, was exceptionally hard to write because it involved my hero getting injured in Iraq, thinking he was going to die, and riddled with guilt about his past.
What has been your toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been your best compliment? All criticism is difficult, but I've been pretty blessed. Publishers Weekly was pretty harsh in a review for RETURN TO ME (which hurt!), but to counter that, USA Today, Romantic Times, and Kirkus loved it.
Is there a message in your novel/novels that you want your reader to grasp? I think there's a little message in all my books, but I always try to take a lot of reality (illness, death, loss, etc) and give even the dark side of life a HEA.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors? Cliché as it sounds, I'd say never give up. I started out Indie before it was popular, moved onto small press, and now I'm with Big 6. Here's an article I wrote on the subject of writing: https://www.goodreads.com/author_blog_posts/7292271-so-you-wanna-write
If Hollywood made a movie about your life, whom would you like to play the lead role? Bwa ha ha! Lord, what a boring movie that would be! Hm, Drew Barrymore probably. She has a lot of my bumbling quirk and (remotely) looks like me.
If you were a superhero, what would you want your powers to be? Ooh! I'd want to read minds!
If you could meet one of your own characters who would it be and why? My characters are pretty real to me, but I'd have to say probably Jackson from GHOST OF A PROMISE. Hot Brit, nice guy, very charming, and dotes on his woman.
Most embarrassing moment? Aye. All of them? LOL. I once met one of my fav authors and told her I loved her book, but it was someone else's. I knew that at the time, but I was nervous.
Where do you see yourself if ten years? I'm hoping to have several more books out, perhaps hit the NY Times bestseller list and get a Rita nod, but I'd love to just keep writing. I'm happiest doing that. Oh, and a movie about one of my books would be great…lol.
What’s your idea of happiness? I think my version of happiness is contentment in what I do. Work, health, my marriage, kids. It's the little things like a great review, an "I love you, Mommy," my hubby holding my hand, the quiet at the end of a day. All good things.
What's your greatest fear? Failure. To write my heart out and not make it or connect with readers. Physically, I'm scared to death of clowns. Evil, evil, jerks!
What question have you always wanted to be asked? How would you answer it? I don't think I've ever wanted to be asked something and haven't. Not that I can think of anyway.
Quick fire: Hard or Soft? Soft. Early bird or Night owl? Early Bird (now that I have kids). Coffee and Tea? Coffee. Right handed or Left handed? Right. Cake or Cookies: Both. Now!
Here's where to stalk Kelly:
