Misjudged Novella

Have we ever misjudged a situation? Looked at life one way only to realize it’s something else entirely?

Christopher “Outlaw” Caldwell is at a crossroads. He worships his old lady, Megan. After almost losing her, he’s realizing marriage is harder than he thought, especially when he’s the president of one of the most notorious MCs around.

Megan Caldwell has been immersed in grief over her lost son, blaming herself for his death. She wants another baby and she wants to be the old lady her husband needs her to be.

Reality has a way of changing perceptions. Both Megan and Christopher will have to find answers to some hard questions. Most important one? Where do they go from here?

Warning: This story contains a little of Kendall Miller’s backstory and a present-day decision on her part. It isn’t for the faint of heart and isn’t a hearts-and-roses type of romance. It has a little intensity, a smidgeon of fighting, a lot of loving, and approximately 1360 ‘f’ words or variations thereof.

A Note From Kat:

Misjudged is a 45,000 word novella that answers questions about Christopher "Outlaw" Caldwell, Megan "Meggie" Caldwell, Kendall "Red" Miller, and John "John Boy" Donovan. These chapters were included within Misguided, but they bogged Mortician's and Bailey's story down by having too many different arcs to follow. Most of the characters will appear in Misguided and, by the end of the series, everyone's storylines will be resolved.

My goal was to provide answers to lingering questions about Outlaw and Meggie, but Outlaw was actually taking over Mortician's story. Including these 45,000 words within Misguided made it huge and Mortician just seemed overshadowed by Outlaw. I didn't think that was fair to Mortician and Bailey or their fans.

Misjudged's prologue begins with Kendall and let me explain why. Whether you love or hate Kendall, she's one of the main characters and she has had it rough. Thank you for being so invested in my characters that a Team Megan and a Team Kendall has developed. Kendall is searching for herself. For every ten steps forward, she takes two steps backwards. The progression-regression battle she's having is either understandable or infuriating depending on which team you're rooting for. To Kendall's credit, she hasn't stopped her life because of so many bad things that has happened to her. She doesn't always make the wisest choices or offer the best deliveries, but she's redeemable. All I ask is that you give her a chance and read with an open mind.

Misjudged will be available on November 10th at Amazon.

My Sexy Saturday

I'm excited to participate in my first #mysexysaturday blog hop! It is a weekly event that can be found here: http://mysexysaturday.blogspot.com/! Seven words, seven sentences, or seven paragraphs are required. Below are my seven paragraphs from my newest release, Misbehavior.

“Mat…Val, please—“

He licked her again and she whimpered.

“I’ve been dreaming of eating up your pussy for years, so keep still, babe. I’m not going to hurt you. I’m going to make you fly to the fucking moon and back.” He twirled the tip of his tongue around her clit.

She grunted, squirming against him, feeling the wet heat of his tongue deep in her belly and right up in her nipples. “Matthew?”

He didn’t stop, widened her legs further instead, and applied more tongue pressure. Squeezing her eyes shut, she gripped handfuls of her comforter, not wanting to encourage him but giving up on discouraging him. His mouth pleasured her so much better than her fingers. No matter what he said to her afterwards, for now, he represented familiarity and succor.

The wet brush of his tongue focused entirely on her clit and he alternated between long, slow licks and fast, quick ones before he speared his tongue inside her entrance, slurping her juices. She arched her back, her legs trembling, his greedy tongue pulling cry after cry from her. Tiny explosions erupted in her center and fanned out over her entire body.

As she spiraled down, she heard the unbuckling of his belt and the unzipping of his jeans, then a frustrated growl, the sound snatching her back and clenching her muscles in fear and nerves all over again. She lifted herself on her elbows and frowned at Matthew as he placed one knee on her bed while stroking his hard dick.

Ace's Redemption is LIVE on Amazon.com

Ace's Redemption is finally live on Amazon again. Share the good news with everyone! This is really important to share for AC Bextor. Ace's Redemption is an excellent book and I don't want Amazon's arbitrary decisions to affect what should be a bestseller, IMHO: http://tinyurl.com/mluwyxg

Welcome, AC Bextor!

It is my great honor to do this post about Ace's Redemption by AC Bextor! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC and I loved the book! I loved Ace almost as much as I loved Shame. (He's irreplaceable, though). Without further ado....

Cherry

Memories alone can ruin you. Fear has a paralyzing effect, and love isn’t always enough to keep you safe.

Ace was the gateway to a freedom I hadn’t known since I was fifteen. He offered his protection from the demons that haunted me; both living and dead.

Although I knew I wasn’t enough to keep him, this didn’t deter my hope that one day he’d love me for who I was, not the broken girl he tried so desperately to save.

In the end, the ghosts of my past found me. Their malevolence knew no bounds, and I was forced to succumb to their will of darkness. Each threat named against those I loved made any escape impossible; choosing my life for theirs became my desolate absolution.

Inevitably, it was my own weakness and self-doubt that became my undoing.

Ace

Emotional ties are sometimes severed. Friendships don’t always endure their hardships, and love offered isn’t always returned.

I was in love once. For me, leaving her back in Ohio was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do. For her, moving on with her life that included her son and the man she loved was no less than she deserved -- unconditional happiness.

My reasons to bring Cherry home to California were obvious. I needed help with my family, and she needed help staying clean and convincing her parents she was ready to give her son the life he deserved.

It was a perfect plan. However, the best laid plans often get lost amidst their best intentions.

Cherry fell in love with me, and in return my love for her acted as the catalyst to her destruction.

Hands to hips, his voice is full of contempt. “Did he kiss you?”
Hands braced to my sides, my voice is full of shock. “What? No, he didn’t kiss me! What are you…”
He cuts me off, not letting me question his question, but accusation is evident in his tone. “Cherry?”
Running my hands through my wind-blown hair and sighing, I make an effort to calm him. “Ace, I’m not your prisoner, and you’re not my warden. You would’ve had to figure out that sooner or later I’d need to make new friends.”
“Yeah, but not Travis kind of friends.”
“What does that mean? He’s your friend. Did you think we were stashed up in a sleazy motel room all day havin’ at each other like rabbits?”
Putting his hand between us, his phone resting in his large palm - he uses it as prop - but avoids answering my question. His voice gets louder as he inches toward my face. “You should have answered your fuckin’ phone, goddamn it. I was worried sick.”
“You thought I was fucking “You thought I was fucking him.” I make it a statement, unsure if I’m talking to myself or him.
“No, I didn’t say that.” He may deny it, but the thought crossed his mind; apparently, several times throughout the day. I see it in his eyes - they give me truth he can’t hide.
Putting my head down, I look to my hands that are left twisting in front of me. “Ace, I’m not a club slut; that’s not who or what I’ve always been. I miss my friends and you’re so mad all the time. Sarah is fourteen and Bean is your grandmother. I need someone my own age to hang out with. Trav’s nice and I like him.”
Visibly relaxing, he runs his fingers through his hair, resting the palms of his hands on top of his head and lacing his fingers together as he holds the pose. “I didn’t mean it like that. I just…I worried, that’s all. You didn’t answer your phone.”
He’s not hearing me. I was with Travis, safe and secure. Raising my voice in frustration, I answer his concern. “I didn’t answer my phone because you would have just kept calling! You agreed to this. You told Travis and me both it was okay, so why call me every thirty minutes and send text messages between those calls?”
His face saddens, realizing I didn’t just incidentally forget to answer. I knowingly ignored his every attempt to reach me. I can’t let myself feel bad about this.
“Ace, what are you gonna do when I start dating?”
His eyebrows lift in question. “Dating?”
“Yeah, two people… dinner… movies… it happens, ya know.” Just not for me.
“I’ll take you to the fuckin’ movies, Cherry. If that’s what’s you want. Dinner, too, if you’re so goddamn insistent that you need all that shit.”

My Review:

I had a complete fan girl moment when I got the chance to read Ace's Redemption. I loved every hot, intense moment of it and fell in love with Ace. And Hayden...? Sex on fire! I can't wait for his book. The entire cast of characters were spectacular and Cherry was a heroine to root for. I wanted to fucking kill a few characters in the books. Read it and you'll find out why. There where moments I shed big, fat, ugly tears and moment where I laughed out loud. And, yes, once or twice, I wanted to slap the shit out of Ace because I wondered how in the hell was he so blind. Then it dawned on me I'd have the same knee jerk reaction to the bombshell dropped on him. He has one hell of a grandmother and friends who are there when he needs it. The poignancy towards the end cut through me and I shed tears, then, too, even though I knew what happened was necessary. Cherry was good, so I was good, too. Ace's Redemption is intense and emotional and it is a MUST read. This was a kickass book and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it.
